Institute of Biophysics

The Institute of Biophysics of Ilia State University is a research institution with the aim of conducting research in the latest trends and areas of Biophysics: Molecular Biophysics, Biophysics of Photobiological Processes, and Biotechnology. Research is being conducted in partnership with the globally recognized leading scientific and technological centers (Ohio State University (US), Copernicus University (Poland), Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (USA).

The Institute aims to integrate a research component into the university environment. Along with the academic staff involved in research projects, Ilia State University doctoral, graduate and undergraduate degree students are also engaged in the aforementioned projects. Together with the research component, the activities of the institute comprise general and special courses at bachelor’s degree programmes, and master’s and doctoral programmes for students interested in Biophysics. Institute offers public lectures, conferences and summer schools in which local and foreign scientists will be involved.
