Archaeological Research Center of the Ancient States on the Territory of Georgia

The goal of the Archaeological Research Center of the Ancient States on the territory of Georgia is to find a historical-archaeological study of the South Caucasus in BC. VIII-A.D.-  IV centuries, when there were such political units as Kolkheti, Egrisi (Lazika), Kartli (Iberia) and others.

The centre's work consists of two components - research and teaching. The research component involves the reconstruction of the history of this region based on written and archaeological sources carried out by the researchers of the centre. The study component aims to involve students in these studies by preparing undergraduate and graduate courses, participating in grants, and presenting papers at scientific conferences.

The primary task of the research is to study the historiography of this region and the period. The works performed and planned by the Center for Archaeological Research of the Ancient States on the territory of Georgia cover the main topic from different angles. These are works related to the study of both general and individual monuments or various artefacts.
