The Center for Corporate and Commercial Law is an affiliated centre of Ilia State University School of Law that supports business equity relationships based on investor equality. The Center promotes educational, research and consulting activities in the field of corporate, commercial, corporate governance and securities market law.

The goals of the centre are:

• Study the norms of corporate, commercial, corporate governance and securities market regulation law and develop recommendations for their refinement;
• Assess the impact of changes in corporate, commercial, corporate governance and securities market legislation and benefit and cost analysis;
• Study and analysis of problematic issues and court decisions of corporate, commercial, corporate governance and securities market law;
• Comparative legal analysis of corporate, commercial, corporate governance and securities market law norms and decisions in the US and European countries;
• Facilitate the harmonization of Georgian corporate, commercial, corporate governance and securities market law with EU directives based on the obligations under the Association Agreement;
• Facilitate the introduction of innovations in the field of Georgian corporate, commercial, corporate governance and securities market law;
• Close cooperation with leading European and American scientific centres, implementation of joint research and educational projects, promotion of the introduction of modern research methods;
• Promoting openness and transparency in corporations, promoting shareholder equality and securities market development.

The Center for Corporate and Commercial Law also carries out consulting activities, especially in projects related to regulatory impact assessment, which are new and rare services in the Georgian market.
