Institute of Applied Physics
The Institute of Applied Physics (IAP) was founded in 2010. It offers courses in Physics, Statistics, Computer Modelling and Applied Mathematics for undergraduate and graduate students at the School of Engineering and the School of Arts and Sciences of ISU.
The Institute’s key research areas include:
- Structural and electronic properties of low-dimensional systems, nanostructures and atomic clusters;
- Biophysics of bacteria-metal interactions and microbial synthesis of noble and semimetal nanoparticles;
- Intense laser-plasma interactions, advanced plasma-based acceleration concepts and new radiation sources, as well as relativistic nonlinear optics;
- Development and application of numerical methods for modeling complex nonlinear systems.
