THE RESULTS OF ILIAUNI PROFESSORS IN THE STANFORD UNIVERSITY TOP 2% OF SCIENTISTS’ ANNUAL RANKING HAVE IMPROVED

Stanford University and Elsevier BV have published an updated list of the world’s top 2% of scientists.

The database, prepared by experts, has listed over 100,000 scientists classified into 22 scientific fields and 176 sub-fields, whose published research manuscripts have accelerated progress in their respective fields and influenced the productivity of other researchers as well.

Like last year, this year out of 5 Georgian scientists presented in the annual world’s top 2% of scientists ranking, 3 are from Iliauni:

Ozgur Kişi, Professor of Civil Engineering, ranked 8th in Environmental Engineering. At the same time, Professor Kişi, like last year, is in the 1% of the world's best scientists in this ranking;

Rainer W. Bussmann, Professor of Ethnobotany, co-founder of the Ethnobotany Research Centre at Institute of Botany, founder and publisher of the series of Caucasus Ethnobotany (Springer Publishing), ranked 310th out of 88,725 authors in the ranking in the field of Medicinal & Biomolecular Chemistry (last year’s result was 518);

Merab Svanadze, Professor of Mathematics, improved the previous year’s result and ranked 1585th out of 109724 authors in the ranking in the field of Mechanical Engineering & Transports (last year's result was 1631).

About the Rating

The Stanford rating is based on Scopus data and uses the following citation criteria when evaluating academic performance: Hirsch h-index; coauthorship-adjusted Schreiber hm-index; citation of independently published papers and a total number of citations.

The data used for the study include publications in the Scopus Science Database as of August 1, 2021.
