Physics Course Based on Technological Innovations for Basic School

Lack of interest to the natural sciences and especially to physics at school is well-known fact and it is a recognized problem all
over the world. In Georgia, this challenge, together with the other objective reasons, is caused by improper technical equipment of
the schools and lack of methodologies of teaching that are based on the innovative technologies.
Proposed project is associated with the issue of introduction of innovative technologies at the lessons of physics.
Lesson of physics would become much more interesting and amusing with information and communication technologies.
Computers and multimedia would facilitate the process of learning of physical phenomena, mathematical and graphical solving of
the problems, the students will be able to manipulate the processes, provide computer simulation and control the experiments.
Make obtained conclusions and results available through various social networks and mass media to their classmates, teachers and
generally, the world.
In Georgia there are no thematic electronic education resource in physics that includes simulations, animation texts and laboratory
tasks based on sensor instruments together with the application manual.
Goal of the presented project is to develop new, interdisciplinary education resource based on modern technologies for the lessons
of physics, covering all issues of the basic level. This resource will be built according to the issues determined by the National
Education Plan and provided in the official textbooks. It will be available to the public interested in these issues, including teachers
of physics.
Introduction of the education resource will be based on the innovative methods of teaching of physics, using world’s most recent
methodologies associated to teaching of physics at schools.
Presented project will be implemented at SALiS (Student Active Learning in Science) the Research Center of Education in Natural
Science under the Faculty of Science and Art of Ilia State University, with the assistance of mentor, who is the head of the
mentioned Center. Project will be implemented with the consultations of Swedish scientist. Hence, one of the goals of the project is
expansion of the national and international collaboration in the process of work on the project. For successful implementation of
the project sharing of the mentor’s and consultant’s experience and involvement in the project is of critical significance.
Thus, the above goals of the presented scientific-research project serve to one main goal: improvement of the quality of teaching of
physics at school, implying change of negative attitude to physics among the students to positive, elaborate in them the thinking
skills that would contribute to better learning of the natural science.
As a result of implementation of the presented project the education resource intended for teaching of basic level physics will be
created that would integrate information and communication technologies and physics.
The following will be developed:
 Simulations for learning of physical phenomena, with the relevant instructions of use;
 Interactive summarizing tests;
 Laboratory tasks based on the modern sensor devices with relevant software with the instructions of use;
Project outcomes
 Publication in the international and national refereed magazine;
 Presentation at the international conference;
 Workshops at SALiS (Student Active Learning in Science) the Research Center of Education in Natural Science under the
Faculty of Science and Art of Ilia State University.
In Georgia, regarding current economic situation, introduction of the computer technologies in the process of teaching of physics at
schools is associated with significant difficulties through we regard that commencement of this process now would be timely and
necessary
