The project is about the establishment of a science laboratory for school students at Ilia State University.
Students will visit the lab together with the science teacher on a regular basis (on average once a week) and
spend two hours doing fun and exciting inquiry experiments.
Laboratory work will be prepared for elementary as well as basic and secondary school students. For
elementary and basic school students, low cost technologies and laboratory equipment will be available at
Ilia State University's SALiS Lab, and for secondary school students, experiments will be conducted with
lab and sensor based equipment.
Future teachers - students from Ilia State University will be involved in the laboratory activities with the
academic staff of the university.
German consultant from the University of Bremen, prof. Ingo Eilks will be involved in the development of
the project. Prof. Eilk has extensive experience in student laboratories. He has been working with Ilia State
University for more than 10 years in various European projects.
Materials for the laboratory activities developed in the frame of the project after the project life time will be
used by the academic staff of Ilia State University to provide future courses to teachers, as well as to teacher
training programs. Georgian teachers will also be able to use the lab modules as all these modules will be

We believe that this project will stimulate students 'interest in the science subjects and will also be
important for future teachers' interest, also for developing their professional skills.
