Soil rehabilitation and food safety in target sites: Sighnaghi and Gori Municipalities (Eastern Georgia), is a problem for the Region. The project plans to develop biologically safe methods of soil rehabilitation-bioremediation and introduction of organic farming.  Removal of chemicals from agriculture by replacing them with organic fertilizers and methods of biological pest control guarantee environmentally friendly products. Studying soil fauna and selecting effective species is necessary for organic farming introducing. Planned search and breeding of earthworm’s local species, use and popularize of biohumus result of their life activity. Capacity building concerning vermitechnologies, processing of organic waste and the production of ecologically pure bioproducts will contribute to solving the problem of putting household waste into human service.

The project, including pest control in parallel with the use of organic fertilizers, is an innovation in the development of an integrated plant protection system: the usage of biological pest control and vermitechnologies.
