Hazard assessment and dynamic analyses of the processes of mud and debris flow-prone gorges of Tbilisi area in VR environment - a research concerning
The aim of the research is to study the debris flows prone gorges in the Tbilisi area, which can have the biggest negative effect on the city. The first stage includes the identification of high-risk gorges with aerial photographs and Lidar data, field and laboratory work, and finally, processing and modeling of the obtained data.
The investigation implies the identification of hazard scenarios, dynamic modeling and detection of possible vulnerable zones. By representing hazards and risks in virtual reality, the results are presented to society in a more understandable way, which is very important for the dissemination of project results.
Carrying out the research has great scientific and practical significance, on the one hand gaining great scientific experience, including international scientific collaboration that will be important for future scientific activities of similar content, on the other hand informing the engineering sector and raising the awareness of the population about the existing risks. The implementation of the project will contribute to the improved management of urbanization processes, which leads to the reduction of the possible damaging effects of natural disasters and the implementation of mitigation measures.
