Bioengineering Of Novel Vascularized, Insulin-Secreting, Immunoprotective 3D Constructs On Human Amniotic Membrane Matrix
The main goal of this project is to generate a bio–engineered organ that reverses diabetes with translational potential for full preclinical testing, with exceptional advantages in terms of efficacy (by reducing the amount of harvested and transplanted islets), safety (by avoiding systemic immunosuppression) and availability (by the potential to upscale to “infinite” sources of insulin-producing tissues).
