Taking into account the accelerated globalization processes affecting Kartvelian languages, documentation and creation of a digital archive of unwritten Kartvelian languages, including Megrelian, is of particular importance and an urgent task for Kartvelian scholars today. The various Megrelian traditions, rituals and vocabulary disappear; the lexical fund, in general, and its phraseological system become impoverished; the processes of migration, which have been particularly rapid in the last 30 years, and the excess use of technology in everyday life have led to the devaluation of many values and the transmission of language and culture between generations does not occur appropriately. 
The main goal of this project is a) conversation of Megrelian language data and creation of a comprehensive digital archive; b) the creation of a morphologically annotated corpus; c) generation of a dictionary and sketch grammar using Fieldwork Language Explorer (FLEx).
The project is interdisciplinary. It provides links between language and technology focusing on the creation of tools for language processing and language documentation.
 The results of the project (an annotated corpus of Megrelian language, dictionary, sketch grammar, and converter) will be presented online in the form of a website specially developed for the project purposes and placed on the server of Ilia State University.
